FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Clear answers to common concerns

Dr. Bhuktar answers questions most frequently asked by patients and their families.

Modern joint implants engineered with highly cross-linked polyethylene, titanium porous surfaces, and delta ceramic bearings have proven laboratory and clinical survivorship exceeding 25 to 30 years. Coupled with robotic sub-millimeter positioning that prevents uneven edge wear, modern replacements are designed to last a lifetime for most individuals.
Yes, with the Direct Anterior Approach (DAA) Hip Replacement and modern high-flexion knee prostheses, full deep flexion is attainable because posterior soft tissues and quadriceps tendons remain intact. After the initial 6–12 week healing phase, many patients comfortably resume floor seating, prayer, and yoga posture activities.
The robot does NOT operate autonomously. It acts as an ultra-precise extension of Dr. Bhuktar's hands. The robotic system uses stereotactic cameras and haptic boundaries to guide bone cutting, physically preventing any resection outside the planned safe zone, which safeguards delicate nerves, arteries, and collateral ligaments.
Postoperative pain is significantly lower compared to standard surgery because the quadriceps tendon is not severed. Combined with intraoperative periarticular cocktail injections and modern multimodal analgesia, patients can comfortably perform straight leg raises immediately in recovery and begin walking on the same day with mild soreness.
Climbing stairs is practiced under physical therapy guidance on Day 2 in the hospital before discharge. Driving is typically safe by 4 to 6 weeks once emergency braking reflex is restored. Long-distance road or flight travel is generally cleared after the 6-week clinical follow-up.
Yes. Joint replacement surgery is recognized and covered by all private health insurance providers, government employee health schemes, and corporate mediclaim policies. Advance Medicity Hospital’s TPA desk will assist in coordinating pre-authorization and claims.
